Our History

The tradition of industrial production in Turany dates back to the 19th century. In 1887, the village welcomed its first woodworking enterprise—a sawmill operated by the SCHULZ & POLLAK company. Following a fire in 1914, operations resumed under the name Spojená drevárska účastinná spoločnosť. In 1948, the plant was rebranded as DREVINA, and in 1956, a machine plant was established as part of this growing enterprise.

The Legacy of DREVINA Turany

The fall of the Iron Curtain brought significant changes to DREVINA. After privatization in the 1990s, what remained of one of the largest woodworking companies in Czechoslovakia—a business with numerous operations and thousands of employees—was a functioning machine plant. In 1994, the plant was privatized by individuals, and since 1997, it has proudly operated under the name SZT – Stroje.

Over the years, our production range has evolved significantly. What began as a factory dedicated to manufacturing woodworking machines, tools, and equipment for wood processing has transformed into a versatile company serving a diverse clientele across the automotive, general engineering, chemical, construction, forestry, and energy sectors. We continuously monitor economic trends and adapt our development strategy to meet the changing needs of our customers.
